Smithers phenolic foam is ideal for shipping temperature-sensitive items, including the safe transport of food, pharmaceuticals and medical products. It has very low thermal conductivity and will not melt or change shape when wetted and frozen.
Smithers foam bricks and panels never change shape during freezing, thawing or transit. They maintain designated packing configurations throughout the trip. Especially recommended for tight packaging situations, the foam can also have a higher freezing temperature if needed.
Phenolic foam has better quality insurance than gel packs, because it will not lose its shape when it starts to melt. The foam will not melt or cause the medicine to move, desirable in many insulated container applications
Lightweight insulating shipping foam
Lightweight with a consistent and uniform structure, Smithers packaging foam is nontoxic, non-caustic, highly flame resistant, an excellent insulator and costs less than polyurethane. You can be assured it will maintain its protective configuration when frozen for cold chain containers.
You can specify high-density rigid foam or impressionable foam. Low density or impressionable foam enables you to create an exact fit for most shapes.
